Achievements

As you may be aware, last year was a time of significant change for assessment. We have therefore decided to include information about 2015 as well as 2016 to give a fuller picture of the performance of the school.

The full School Performance Tables can be found on the DfE website here.

Standards on entry to KS1

2015

2016

Comments

The standards at the end of reception were well above national

Once again, the standards were well above national

Our results are consistently above national (by between 7 and 15%). This gives our children a very good foundation for KS1.

Standards in phonics at the end of Year 1

2016

Comments

Our results were well above national outcomes. Indeed 92% achieved the expected standard compared with 81% nationally

The school has worked very closely with parents to enable each child to achieve their full potential.

Standards at the end of KS1

2015

2016

Comments

The standards at the end of KS1 were well above national across all subjects (reading, writing and maths)

The standards in reading were so high that 37% of our children achieved greater depth compared with 24% nationally.

However, we did not respond quickly enough to the dramatic changes in the assessment system and our results in other subjects fell below national (unlike our usual pattern)

The latest assessments (Autumn 2016) show that the current Year 2 are on track once more to exceed national in every subject area

Standards across the juniors

2016

Comments

We have introduced the use of GL assessments, a standardised assessment which allows us to compare our results with a national sample.

These confirm  that our achievements are consistently ‘significantly above the national average’

The strength of these interim assessments make us confident that our children will achieve well at the end of Year 6

Standards at the end of KS2

2015

2016

Comments

Our standards at the end of KS2 were well above national. 85% achieved level 4 in reading, writing and maths (80% nationally)

We exceeded national in all the subjects assessed through externally marked tests. (reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling and maths).

The one subject which we assessed ourselves (writing), we did not respond swiftly enough to the changes and we fell short of national standards (unlike the upward trend which we have seen for the previous three years)

Unfortunately, this brings down the percentage of children who achieved expected standard in all three subjects, reading, writing and maths to 40%

We were particularly pleased by the percentage of children who achieved high scores. The percentage of children who achieved a high score in all three subjects is 5% which matches the national picture.  In reading 29% achieved the higher standard compared with 24% nationally.  In maths 31% achieved the higher standard compared with 17% nationally.

The latest assessments (Autumn 2016) show that the current Year 6 are on track once more to exceed national in every subject area

Progress across KS2

Our KS2 SATs results demonstrated that the progress made by our pupils in reading (-0.1) and maths (0.2) matched national rates of progress.

In writing our disappointing results meant that the headline progress figure (-7.6) did not match the national picture this year.

Overall, In 2016, a significant majority of our children made expected progress in the interim years. On average 85% in reading, 86% in writing and 90% in maths.

The latest assessments show that our children achieved an average score in reading, maths and spelling and grammar significantly above the national average.

This confirms that our children are on track to make good progress across the school.
