To enhance the quality of children’s learning through a new CREATIVE curriculum: This year we will embed and refine our plans for our curriculum; with a particular focus on WOW starts, practical design and technology and creative home learning. We will develop plans for outdoor learning, starting with Reception and the infant playground.
To promote a cohesive COMMUNITY through by introducing Partnering for Success: By Summer 17, we will have celebrated role models from a range of cultural backgrounds, established a credit union for our children, with support from St John’s church (Christians against Poverty), celebrated Christ Church’s and our own 150th anniversary, sponsored two children in Kibera slums in Kenya.
To NURTURE children’s well being by creation of life teams: This year we will introduce an innovative new project ‘Let’s Lead at Christ Church’ in order to promote a sense of community and responsibility accompanied by the reintroduction of systematic circle times. We will also seek expert guidance through the extended course ‘Children’s Mental Health Training for schools’ and through additional educational psychologist time
To continue to MAXIMISE children’s potential by developing a love of learning: We will continue our drive to ensure there are good rates of progress in every year group across the school by focusing on areas which will transform the way children view themselves as learners. We will:
- Create a whole school approach to teaching spelling
- Use conferencing to support children in redrafting & improving their writing
- Refine our programme of targeted interventions
- Boost children’s belief in themselves as learners, through the ‘hero’s
