What a fantastic sports day we had at the Infants this morning. I hope you all enjoyed watching the children take part in their various activities. I was so impressed by their skills, their sportsmanship and the progression from Reception to Year 2. This week has also seen the Nursery transformed into a café, where parents and teachers enjoyed being served by their children, looking very smart with their bow ties. Year 1 have been making the most of the weather, looking for and learning all about snails and Year 3 were given the opportunity on Monday to visit the Green Lane Recreation Ground in New Malden to take part in Project Kingfisher. This is an educational programme, run by the South East Rivers Trust, designed to challenge children to learn more about their local river, its history, wildlife and the role we can all play in protecting rivers for the future. We have also welcomed Year 6 back from their trip to the Isle of Wight this afternoon, from what I’m sure was an amazing experience for them all.
Thank you to Mrs Greenfield and Miss Han
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Greenfield for all her dedication and hard work covering maternity leave in Tiger class. It was so kind of her to return to us specially to support this class. We are very grateful for her valuable teaching expertise and she will be missed by staff and pupils alike. We look forward to welcoming Mrs Coltman back from maternity leave in September.
I would also like to thank Miss Han who joined us for 1 year as an additional teaching assistant in Year 4. She has been an invaluable support and we wish her every happiness in the future.
Paul Aagaard, our lunchtime consultant, met with Parent Reps in the Infant Hall this afternoon to discuss his new plans, transforming lunchtimes into a restaurant style experience. We will launch the new approach at the start of the Autumn term. In particular, we will be introducing:
- longer periods for children to sit and eat,
- mixed age seating plans,
- bread baskets on each table,
- topics for discussion in order to promote children’s social skills and
- more opportunities for adults to sit with children and to teach good table manners.
End of Year Church Service
Next Friday is our end of year Church Service. You are warmly invited to join our celebration, which starts at 9.45am. Following this, at 10.45am, there will be a Year 6 Leavers’ service to which parents/carers are also invited. (This will last for approximately 1 hour). Do bring tissues!
Additional Staff required for Connect
Our After School Club, Connect@ Christ Church, is dedicated to providing outstanding extended care: engaging children in various activities, inside and outside, and preparing, serving and supervising breakfast and tea. We are seeking to appoint two enthusiastic people who have a commitment to high quality child care and who are passionate about working with children to join the team. It is vitally important to us that the children have an enjoyable experience. If you are someone who likes helping children and would be able to organise and supervise a wide variety of different activities (sporting, academic and relaxing) with children and support and help serve tea then we are interested in hearing from you. Please go to the job vacancies page of the school’s website
Lunchtime Supervisors Required
We are looking for lunchtime supervisors to join the team at the juniors looking after our children at lunchtimes and ensuring that the children have a happy and safe time. Lunchtime Supervisors look after children when they play in the playground and when they eat their lunch in the school hall including checking that they have the correct meal. The hours of work are 12.15 p.m. to 1.20 p.m. Monday-Friday during Term Time plus a half termly meeting. For more information go to the vacancies page on our website.
