December 13th 2019

Dear Parents/Carers,

What a wonderful week of performances we’ve been treated to; with the Infant Nativities every morning and the Junior performances last night and this afternoon. I would like to thank all staff for the many hours of work that went into these, all parents who provided such beautiful costumes and of course the children for providing us with such superb entertainment. I’m sure you’ll agree that they all did an amazing job. The children certainly enjoyed the opportunity to watch each other’s performances. It has also been fantastic to have the spectacular new lights and speakers in the junior hall which brought such a sense of atmosphere. Thank you so much to the PTA for all their fundraising which enabled this to happen. Our musical talent has also been on display this week with our Year 5 & 6 Choir singing at the Baptist Church on Monday and the Year 6 Choir performing at John Lewis in Kingston on Tuesday. In Sport, I went to support our Year 6 girls’ football team on Tuesday, who made a valiant effort at the Borough Football Finals. We have managed to achieve the impressive place of 7th in the borough and we are the only school to reach the borough finals with both the girls and the boys teams.

As you will be aware, today was Christmas Jumper Day, where in addition to everyone looking very festive, we managed to raise £282.66. Thank you also for your generous donations following the nativities, where we raised a fantastic £621.94 and the Junior Performance which totalled £304.92, making a grand total of £1,209.52. This will be split evenly between two charities; Momentum, supporting families whose children have cancer or a life-challenging condition, and the Lunchbowl Network. After all this, the week has still not finished, with the PTA discos to look forward to this evening!

Class Christmas Parties – Thursday 19th December
In the afternoon of the last Thursday of term, children have their class parties. This year, rather than asking parents to provide food we will buy the refreshments and ask parents of children in Reception to Year 6 to contribute £2, via ParentMail. Children can come to school in party clothes. They should, of course, wear sensible shoes and no jewellery or make-up.

Christmas Service – Friday 20th December @ 9:45 a.m.
You are warmly invited to join us at Christ Church for our end of term service, which begins at 9.45a.m. Infant Classes do need one or two parents to walk with them, if you are able to help please either speak to or email your class teacher. Unless your class teacher has accepted the offer of help, please go straight to the church.

Sickness – returning to school
The School’s policy, which adopts Public Health England’s guidelines, is that a child who is poorly should not return to school until 48 hours have passed since the last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting.

Pret-a-Portrait Photographs
Please can we remind you that if you have not yet ordered school photographs, they are still available from the Pret-a-Portrait website and unframed prints, JPEGS on CD or memory stick orders can still be received in time for Christmas if ordered by Tuesday, 17th December.
