It has been lovely this week to see this Christmas story told in so many different ways. Nursery told the story of Jesus through nursery rhymes. In Reception, we met bossy Caesar and his census-takers, the angels, the shepherds and joined the kings on their journey as they followed the star and came with wonder and awe to the stable. With Year 1, we saw the excitement of heaven’s host of angels as they hurriedly practised a new song for the birth of baby Jesus. Year 2, Mr & Mrs Innkeeper’s sleep was interrupted by a stream of visitors asking for Mary and Joseph, all coming to see the new-born Christ. Year 3 stunned us with a song-filled telling of the Christmas story exploring the reaction of people living in Bethlehem to influx of visitors for the census, eventually deciding to offer hospitality.
All the performances told of the miracle of Jesus’ birth and the life-changing impact that it had on people then, and still has on people now.
Thank you so much to all the children and adults who worked so hard to put these performances together, I think they were the best I’ve seen, with clearly delivered lines beautiful singing and such joy and enthusiasm.
Nativity Charity Collections
This year, our retiring collections were for the Royal Marsden, a charity that helps provide care for children and adults with cancer. A total of £867.30 has been raised, which is fantastic.
Sharing Images from Nativities
As I mentioned during my introductions, please do not share photos or videos of our wonderful school nativities on social media that contain images of children other than your own. There are reasons why photos of some children cannot be shared on line for their own protection. If you have already done so, we would encourage you to take them down.
If you have hot dinners, the Christmas lunch will be on Wednesday. Although there is still time to book, if your child is having a packed lunch, do put a little festive treat inside.
