I do want to begin with an enormous thank you to everyone involved in the Christmas Fairs. As usual, it was wonderfully organised by the PTA, who put on an event that not only raised lots of money for the school, but was also a joyful afternoon. I particularly enjoyed hearing the Year, 2, 3 & 4 choirs singing together for the first time. The final total has not been worked out, but the fair raised more than £8000. I am sure you will agree that this is a very impressive amount.
This morning, I was inspired by the juniors’ music concert, expertly organised again by Mrs Bishop. It was our largest number of performers to date and it was lovely to see the range of talent. I hope many of you will join me on Thursday, at our Christmas Music Concert at 7 p.m. at Christ Church church.
Thank you to all the reps that came to the parents’ reps meeting, this afternoon. Attached is a note of the questions we discussed that are relevant to more than one class.
Potential Holiday Club
The school has start discussions with SCL regarding a holiday club provision at the school. SCL run holiday clubs at a number of local schools including Burlington and Christ Church, Surbiton.
SCL offer two types of club at all of their venues. Club Energy is an Ofsted registered childcare provision where 4-12 year olds enjoy a variety of activities including fun games, sports, outdoor pursuits, specialist activities and arts & crafts. The Soccer School programme gives boys and girls of all abilities the opportunity to be coached in a different aspect of football each day including shooting, goalkeeping, and passing, dribbling, attacking and defending, through playing fun and imaginative games.
The intention is to start during the February half-term holiday 2018 for all Primary aged pupils attending the school (and other surrounding schools in the area) but it is very much dependent on demand.
We have agreed with SCL that we will carry out an initial ‘likely uptake’ survey. Please see the ParentMail form Potential Holiday Club with SCL for more information
Christmas Tree Sale 2nd & 9th December
If you are thinking of buying a real tree, please consider doing so from the sale outside the Methodist Church in the High Street but do mention Christ Church when you do: for each tree bought £5/10, depending on the size, is donated to school funds (and encourage your friends and family to do so too). We raise several hundred pounds each year this way.

Christmas Jumper Day – Friday 15th December
On Friday 15th December, children are invited to wear Christmas jumpers to raise money for charity. This year, the money raised will go to the Lunchbowl charity, which works with children in the Kibera slum in Nairobi. The £1s that children bring in will go towards buying small Christmas presents for the children in the Lunchbowl kindergarten in Kibera.

If you are able to help walk Year 4 to/from the library next Friday 8th December, please let the office know 4A will leave school at 1.30 p.m. and 4G will leave school at 1.50 p.m.
