December 8th 2017

Dear Parents/Carers,

Christmas is fast approaching! Last night, we had the first of our Christmas performances: the Christmas Music Concert, in church. It was a wonderful performance with pieces from the junior choirs, recorder groups and orchestra. The children performed superbly and I am so grateful to Mrs Huggett, Mrs Bond, Mrs Bishop, Mrs Brooks and Mrs Robinson, for the work and energy that they put into the concert. You can see some photos of the concert in the attached newsletter.

On Tuesday, four Year 4s, Alex M., Henry, Ella & Eve played six other schools at Surbiton Racquet & Tennis Club. We scored a total 0f 201 points, against an average of 130, and came first. Huge congratulations to the team!

Next week, I look forward to seeing many of you at our Christmas productions. Here are the details:

Class Christmas Parties – Wednesday 20th December

In the afternoon of the last Wednesday of term, children in Reception to Year 6 have their class parties. Children in nursery do have a party, which Mrs Lawrence and Mrs Timmins organise.

Children can come to school in party clothes.  They should, however, wear sensible shoes and no jewellery or make-up.

Children bring in party food to share. They will have lunch as usual and, in the afternoon, they will have some party food, which parents should bring in at the beginning of the school day.

Here is a copy of the sign-up sheet that will be outside classrooms from Monday morning. (Years 5 and 6 will be on windows by their class lunch box trolley). In addition, all sign-up sheets will be at Connect from 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. Please sign up indicating what your child will be bringing to the Christmas party.

WE ARE A NUT-FREE SCHOOL. Please do not send in any food that contains nuts or nut derivatives. Any food that does contain nuts or nut derivatives will have to be disposed of.

Year 3 Boys’ Football Training – Monday 11th December

We will be running a training session this Monday morning, 11th December, after collective worship for all Year 3 boys who would like to trial for the team. If your son would like to be considered for the team, could he please come to school on Monday with trainers and shin pads and ensure that he has a full PE kit in school, including tracksuit bottoms and top.

Keeping you informed

Many organisations contact us and ask us to share information with you about clubs and other events.  However, we are also aware that people would like us to reduce the number of ParentMails we send out. We will therefore publicise these events here on our website.

Christmas Tree Sale – Saturday 9th December – Tomorrow!

If you are thinking of buying a real tree, please consider doing so from the sale outside the Methodist Church in the High Street but do mention Christ Church when you do: for each tree bought £5/10, depending on the size, is donated to school funds (and encourage your friends and family to do so too). We raise several hundred pounds each year this way.
