The week has ended with a flurry of sporting events. Yesterday, a team of netballers from Year 5 and 6 went to the High 5 Netball Finals at Kingston Grammar School. I am very grateful to parents Katie Leason, Fiona Fardon and Sophie Brown who have run a netball club at lunchtimes to prepare the children for the tournament. We were proud to have made it through to the semi-finals, where I hear we encountered some tough opposition! Today, thirty children from Years 5 and 6 went to Goals in New Malden for the London Inter Primary School Football Tournament. You can see photos from the netball and more in the attached newsletter.
Science Home Learning Projects – Years 2 – 6
This half term, children in Years 2 to 6 are doing a science home learning project. Your child should have brought home the information today. Please have a look at the project and if you have any questions please ask your child’s teacher. Deadlines for the projects are as follows:
- Year 2, 3, 5 & 6 – Monday 26th March
- Year 4 – Monday 19th March
The Sustainable Transport Team is recruiting new Cycle Instructors to meet the increasing demand of Bikeability courses for Year 5 and Year 6.
Because the majority of our courses are run during school time, this job is suitable for parents. A trained instructor could expect to earn up £190.88 to deliver a standard 10-hour Bikeability course. If they are regular cyclist with good road sense, are a good communicator and enjoy working outdoors, we would like to hear from them!
The role is advertised on the job section of the Kingston and Sutton Websites. For an informal chat or to discuss the role, please contact Eric Chasseray in the Sustainable Transport Team (Tel: 020 8547 5826 or 07824 496284 and email firstname.lastname@example.org)
World Book Day – Thursday 1st March – Years 1 & 2
World Book Day is Thursday 2nd March. It would be lovely if your child could bring in their favourite book to talk about. Please label it clearly. (Please note, we will not be asking Reception to Year 6 children to dress up on this day, because we have dressed up already on our micropig learning day and we will invite children to dress up on our International day on Friday 23rd March. Nursery children will be still be dressing up for World Book Day).
Thames Water – Sewer Pipe Repairs in Elm Road
Thames Water are carrying out sewer pipe repairs in Elm Road until mid-March. We have been advised that from Monday 5th March – Friday 16th March there will be a road closure from 21 Elm Road to the junction with Northcote Road. This will mean no vehicle access along this section of Elm Road. There will be pedestrian access at all times. If your journey to/from school by car involves this section of Elm Road, across the level crossing, please be aware that you will need to make alternative arrangements.
With best wishes,
Tabitha White, Headteacher
