Today, we have celebrated International Day. It has been lovely seeing the creative and beautiful costumes that the children and teachers have worn. Children have taught each other to say ‘hello’ in different languages, gone on journeys overseas and tasted food from near and far. Year 5 and 6 were very fortunate to have a Korean chef, Hyung So Yim, from the Institute of Traditional Korean Food, teach them to make bibimbap, whilst other classes enjoyed an international food feast. Thank you to all the parents who provided food and helped their children with their costumes. You will see photos of today, and more, in the attached newsletter.
Yesterday, I went to Year 2’s wonderful singing performance. Mrs Bond had arranged for staff from Kingston Music Service to come in. They taught the children the songs on Tuesday and practised on Thursday, before performing to their parents. I was so proud of all the children, and am grateful to Mrs Bond for organising it and to the parents whose voluntary contributions meant that we could offer such a fantastic opportunity. One parent captured the spirit of it for me by saying that it was ‘full of joy’.
Y4 Trip to Carroty Wood

Thank you to the people who spotted the error in the last newsletter, where I mistakenly said the Charity walk for Peace will be in March. The correct date is 29th April.

If there are any complaints that you have made to ISS which have not been resolved to your satisfaction, please let us know before Wednesday and we will raise them at our meeting.
Paul Forsyth, dad of Lucas in Year 3, is running both the Brighton marathon and London marathon in April, seven days apart! He’s running for local charity “best beginnings” who work on mental health issues, especially new parents, this is under the umbrella of the Princes charity “heads together” promoting mental health charities! When we have more details, we will put them on our website.

Tag Rugby League
For the past 5 weeks, Year 4 have been enjoying PE lessons led by a professional Rugby League coach, where they learned some of the basic skills and rules of Tag Rugby League. Some children went to the Kingston Schools Sports Partnership (KSSP) tournament, today, and you can see their report in the newsletter.
Chris, the coach, would like to encourage all of our pupils to have a go at Tag Rugby League by attending a Primary Rugby League Open Day this Saturday, 24th March from 10.00-11.30, at Elmbridge Eagles, Oaken Lane, Claygate, KT10 9BZ. In addition to this being a fun and free event, it also will help us to maintain links with professional organisations such as the Rugby League Foundation, who in turn, provide free, high quality PE instruction.
