We have had a week without snow, which has been perfect for ducklings! Children at the infants have loved watching the ducklings hatch and grow. Yesterday, they visited during collective worship and walked around the hall. You can see photos of the ducklings, and more, in the attached newsletter. Today we had a lovely Mothers’ Day tea for Reception Parents. I wish you all a very special time on Sunday.
International Day – Friday 23rd March
On International Day, children will have the opportunity to learn about different countries in our world. Children should come to school dressed in an international costume. This can be a traditional or contemporary costume, including a national football strip, or it could be dressing in the colours of a country’s flag.
In Reception to Year 4, children will end their day with an international feast. We would like to invite parents to make a dish from your culture, or another culture, and make enough to bring it in to share with the class. Please be aware that there are children in school with allergies, so all food must come with a complete list of ingredients. We cannot refrigerate food, so if food needs to be kept cool, please send it in in an insulated bag. To help teachers prepare for the feast, please speak to your class teacher about food that you will make.
Children in Year 5 and 6 will be having a lesson from a Korean chef, Hyung Soo Yim, who will teach them to make a traditional Korean dish. They do not need to bring in any food to share with their class.
International Triple Jumper Visit
International triple jumper, Daniel Lewis, is coming to Christ Church:
- Wednesday 14th March – Juniors
- Thursday 15th March – Infants
Children must have their full PE kit, including trainers, in school on the day of the visit.
Head Lice & Nits
We have had several cases of children with head lice and nits, at both the infants and the juniors. Please check your child’s hair and if you see any evidence of hair lice or nits, please treat their hair effectively. For more information, visit NHS Choices.
To avoid the spread of head lice and nits, please ensure that any hair that is shoulder length or longer is securely tied back.
Chicken Pox Outbreak
For your information we have had numerous cases of Chicken Pox this week in our Nursery, a higher number than we have had in the past at any one time.
Year 3 and 4 Choir – Tuesday 28th March
There will be no year 3 and 4 choir the last week of term, as Year 4 will be at Carroty Wood.
