May 7th 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to be able to announce that, after a careful tendering process led by external catering consultants, the governors have chosen a new catering contractor to start in September 2021.  We had a number of criteria which we used for our selection, including:

  • Quality of food
  • Opportunities for parents and children to be involved in the selection of menus
  • Responsiveness to feedback.

We were keen to select a smaller company with whom we could work more closely in order to ensure that the meals become much more popular, and families have more confidence in what is being provided. Nourish is a family run company and have a very loyal staff managing their teams. They impressed us with their passion about their food, and their commitment to delivering  Gold Food For Life Standards (They currently use 15% organic food and 86% fresh produce). We look forward to the change and are keen to involve parents in decision making when the time comes.

Thank you to Emma Scott (on behalf of the Governors) and Kate Gordon (on behalf of the PTA) for giving us wise advice to help with the final selection.

ParentSafe – new dedicated portal to help parents keep children safe online

DigiSafe have launched ParentSafe, a new one-stop portal offering parents support and advice on safe settings, parental controls and monitoring, apps and games, talking to children about life online, screentime and key topics from bullying to accessing pornography, extremism and gangs, fake news and more.

Edible Drugs

The School Health Team has brought to our attention that there has been an occasion of children in the local area consuming Cannabis edibles (sweets containing Cannabis) where a number of children were hospitalised. These products are designed to look like normal sweets and we have attached some visuals to give you an idea of what they look like. You may wish to discuss this with your child.
