Dear Parents/Carers,

As I write, I can hear lots of excited children who are loving ‘break the rules’ day. I have enjoyed seeing the amazing hair styles, the stripy tights, countless tattoos, sparkly nails, and fun hats. I also know that they are looking forward to the squash to drink. Thank you so much to the PTA for bringing this sparkle to the school.

Thank you once again for your generous donations, which keep coming in. This week we would like to thank the families of the following pupils:

  • Anna, William and George Tutton
  • Minyik and Min Woo Cha
  • Elise Nasrallah
  • Jakov Akrap

and our anonymous donors

We will be using the latest funds to participate in the Spark Richmond and Kingston Book Awards. This is a very exciting new opportunity to promote reading in a different way in our school and also link to a bigger community of readers across both our boroughs. Currently, there are a team of teachers, librarians, AFC advisors and book-sellers deciding on a shortlist of quality new books which we will then find out in early January. There are three categories: 4-7 picture books, 7-9 fiction and 9-11 fiction and we have decided to take part in all.  Once they are selected, our children will have the chance to read the books in their category and then vote for their favourite with the winner being announced in May. As well as this, we will have access to virtual author visits from those on the shortlist in the new year!

To all instrumental players – Juniors

We are excited to be organising an online Junior music concert for the end of term. If your child can play a Christmas piece, no matter how short, we would love them to perform it in front of their class.

Then a select few will be chosen for the School Christmas Concert Video. Please encourage them to remember their music and instruments (we will supply keyboards) on the following days:

  • Tues 1st Dec – Years 4 & 5
  • Weds 2nd Dec – Year 6
  • Thurs 3rd Dec – Year 3

Reverse Advent

This year, Year 5 are participating in ‘Reverse Advent’ which means that each day a child gives something to our Advent Calendar. We have decided to focus on bringing long-life food and other essential items that could then be donated to our local foodbank (via the Baptist church). Year 5 are very happy to be helping the local communities and we would like to offer other children in different classes the opportunity to donate things to our Advent Calendar. One bag of food feeds a family for 1 week, so every little helps! Below is a list of items that can be donated although any long-life food items can be given! Miss Brown (Antelope class) will be collecting all donations and taking to the food bank on the last day of term. Thank you for your support.

Items to be donated:

  • Long-life food: Tinned meat and fish, Instant Mash, Tinned Vegetables (peas, carrots, potatoes, sweetcorn), Pasta sauce, Rice pudding, Custard, Steam puddings, Jams and spreads, Coffee, Tinned soups, Long life milk, Long life fruit juice, Squash, Tinned tomatoes, Chocolate/sweets
  • Toiletries (deodorant, toilet paper, shower gel, shaving gel, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, tooth paste, hand wipes)
  • Household items (laundry liquid detergent, laundry powder, washing up liquid),
  • Feminine products (sanitary towels and tampons),
  • Baby supplies (nappies, baby wipes and baby food),
  • Face masks and hand sanitiser.

School Uniform Orders

We are so sorry to have to share that there has been another delay in uniform orders. Apparently the printers have been overloaded with orders, as other printers have gone out of business. We do understand your frustrations and would like to thank you for your patience.

Coronavirus tests

If parents or children should have a coronavirus test, please can parents provide the school with a copy of the test result by email to  It is always reassuring to hear when tests come back negative, and of course we would need to start contacting others if the test were to be positive.

Tours of the school

We are going to make the most of the opportunity that the end of lockdown offers us and schedule some tours of the Infants for parents who are considering applying for spaces in Reception. If you know anyone who might be interested, please ask them to look at our website or contact the office for more information.

Reminder – Primary School Applications For any parents making primary school applications for September 2021 entry, you can apply online here. The closing date for applications is Friday 15 January 2021. You must submit your application and any supplementary information forms by this date.

Parent representatives

The term is speedily passing by, and it is time for another parent representative meeting. This will be on Thursday 10th December at 2 p.m. by zoom. Mr Burkinshaw will send out the link by email. Do let your representatives have any comments or suggestions you would like to make. We do of course welcome the positive and celebratory, but also any ideas for ‘even better if….’
