Dear Parents/Carers,

This morning, Years 5 and 6 were celebrating the end of WW2, with their own V.E. Day party. Thank you to all the children and parents who worked so hard to produce the amazing wartime food that was brought to share. I was impressed to see what could be produced in spite of rationing. I think all the children enjoyed their mid-morning snack!

This week has also been a ‘chums’ week. Every class at Christ Church is paired with another class; their Christ Church Chums. Year 1 are linked with Year 4, Year 2 with Year 5 and Year 3 with Year 6. Classes stay with the chums, as they move through the school, during which time, children get the experience of being the older and the younger chum. Do see some photos of chums, and more, in the attached newsletter.

Secondary School Application Deadline – Year 6

The deadline for applications for secondary school is Tuesday 31st October. As this is just after half term, we would ask that you complete the application online before half term if possible. Any applications not received by Kingston Admissions by 31st October will be considered late and this may severely affect the school your child is offered. If you are having any problems with the online process, please contact Mrs Brown in the Junior office before Friday 20th October for assistance.

Spare Wool

Do you have spare wool at home that you can donate to the lunchtime quiet room at the Junior site? Any colour, any amount would be gratefully received for the children to do finger knitting. Please hand it in to either office.

Costume Jewellery

If you have any unwanted costume jewellery, we would welcome it for art projects in the school. Please could you donate it to one of the offices.

Bikeability Plus – Year 4

Please return the Bikeability form for your child if you have not already done so. We need these forms back by Friday 20th October.

Data Collection Forms

Please return the purple data collection form if you have not already done so.

Year 5 & 6 Choir

Any Year 5 and 6 choir able to attend the Year 3 and 4 choir session on Tuesday 17th October would be appreciated. This will be 8.15 a.m. (for Year 5 and 6), and is a rehearsal for the service on Friday. There will a normal Year 5 and 6 choir session on Thursday.

Hot Lunches – Remember to Order

As six weeks has passed since the start of term (the maximum period you can place orders for your child’s lunches), can you please check your account and ensure that hot meal orders are placed for next week and for after half term.

Best wishes,

Tabitha White
