Since I wrote last week, we have had a most successful Summer Celebration. It was lovely to see so many people come and also stay for a long time. It gave a very welcome sense of normality after such difficult times. I was very impressed by all the organisation which went into making it go so smoothly. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make it happen.
This week, Year 5 had a very successful three day trip to Carroty Wood. It was lovely to hear about their team spirit, their willingness to try new things and their resilience. They will certainly sleep well this weekend after all the excitement (as will the adults!). Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to make this such a success.
This week, our Children’s Steering Group has met for the first time to discuss our plans for our Rights’ Respecting Schools Award. They were amazed to discover that children have 42 different rights and they will be sharing their findings with their classes.
This year, Christ Church have encouraged us to ask children for donations to the Kingston Foodbank and it is good to know that what is donated will benefit people in need in the local area. We will be having our Harvest services in school on Thursday 14th October, and children should bring in their items on that day. This is the list of items that can be brought in:
- Instant mashed potato
- Juice & squash
- Shower gel
- Shaving foam
- Household cleaning items
- Washing up liquid
- Washing machine tablets
- Christmas items (puddings, cakes or chocolates – still in date at Christmas)
School Meals – Food Supply Issues – a Message from Nourish
As you will have heard in the news, a shortage of HGV drivers is having a major effect on the food industry. As a food provider to the education sector, our suppliers are prioritising us and we have worked hard, in conjunction with them, to ensure that our service is not affected. However, the issues will not be resolved in the near future and new challenges are occurring all the time.
Nourish will endeavour to continue providing all dishes on their menus and options from our normal service. However, there may be occasions where we will need to adjust the menu depending on the supplies available and we will inform the schools as early as possible.
School Meals – Balance from ISS / Feeding Hungry Minds
Balances have now been transferred from ISS onto Parentmail – in the event that an older sibling has moved on to secondary school their balance has been transferred to a younger one.
School Meals at the Juniors – Please check booking
Our apologies, we have had teething problems with the ordering system and some orders from next week onwards may have been cancelled from the system (if this is the case your account will have been credited with the appropriate amount) please check the upcoming weeks and re-book if necessary.
Reporting Sickness Absences
Please can we remind parents to use the ParentMail app to report a child’s absence rather than telephone. You must report their absence either each day of absence or advise on the first day of absence how long your child will be absent.
If your child suffers from either vomiting or diarrhoea they must be kept off school and can only return 48 hours after their symptoms disappear. It is vital that we are kept updated as we are keen to ensure that any child who walks to school on their own is safe.
If they have any of the coronavirus symptoms, cough, high temperature, loss to their sense of taste then they should stay off school for ten days or until they receive a negative PCR test.
Term Dates 2022-2023
Term dates for the 2022-2023 academic year have now been agreed and can be found on our school website.
