Thank you to all who came along to share in our Harvest Service at church this morning. I’m sure you’ll agree that the children read, sang and prayed beautifully. I have also been impressed with the amount of creativity in the classrooms this week. Year 1 have been amazing teachers with their role play abilities using lolly stick puppets they’ve made. Year 3 have created a model to explore how the tendons in our hands work and Year 4 have been making Mexican wraps. I have been impressed by the number of junior children who have applied for leadership roles in the school. There were so many that not everyone could have their first choice this term. They can either wait until next term or be considered for other leadership roles. (We will offer more opportunities next week). We have also seen sporting competitions for the term begin this week. Some of our Year 2 boys were eventually able to participate in a Football Festival at Goals, New Malden, which was rescheduled from last week due to bad weather and a Year 4 Girls’ team competed at Kew Grounds yesterday.
Beginning of the school day
Please can we remind parents/carers that the school day starts on both sites at 8:50 a.m. and children should be in their classroom by this time. If you arrive late, please sign your child in at Reception and a member of staff will take them through to the classroom. Once school has started we are unable to allow parents into the school building unaccompanied.
Parents’ Evening (Nursery – Year 5)
There will be two parents evening sessions for Nursery – Year 5 on Tuesday 22nd October and Thursday 24th October. Parents/Carers should have received a separate email with further details and how to book.
Reminder, for children in Reception to Year 6, school finishes one hour earlier on Thursday 24th October. For children already booked into Connect, their booking will be automatically extended by an hour. There are no clubs running during this week.
Year 6 Learning Reviews
Year 6 will have a learning review on Friday 25th October, during the day, for parents and pupils. Year 6 parents should have received a separate email with details of how to book an appointment.
We would like every child at the juniors to have their own set of headphones or earphones to enable them to listen when working on the computer or iPad or listening to audiobooks. We are aware that many parents will have at least one set of headphones or earphones spare at home, perhaps hiding at the back of a drawer. If so, do send them in with your child in an envelope with your child’s name on it. If you or your employer have, or have access to, sets of unused earphones that you could give to school, please contact the office.
Doughnut Sale – Friday 11th October
Next Friday after school there will be a doughnut sale at the Juniors. All proceeds will go towards the Year 6 Leavers’ Fund.
