It was lovely to see so many of you in church, this afternoon, for our Harvest service. Thank you to all parents and children who have donated food for the church to distribute to those in need. Today, we have also smiled on World Smile Day, raising money for children born with cleft palates. Throughout the school, children have been practising acts of kindness and doing fun activities for five minutes – the length of time it takes to repair a cleft palate. At the juniors, the children were challenged to create their own version of the viral song Baby Shark. Potter class stole the show with a flash mob. You can see photos of this, and more, in the attached newsletter.
Photograph Day – Friday 9th November
All reception – Year 6 pupils will be photographed individually on Friday 9th November. As last year, sibling group photographs can be arranged by booked appointment, either before or after school on that day. More details to follow next week.
Parents Evening/Year 6 Learning Reviews
There will be two parents evening sessions after half term for Nursery – Year 5 on Wednesday 14th 4.00 p.m. -7.00 p.m. and Thursday 15th November 3.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. Reminder, for children in Reception to Year 6, school finishes one hour earlier on Thursday 15th November. For children already booked into Connect, their booking will be automatically extended by an hour.
Year 6 will have a learning review on Friday 16th November, during the day, for parents and pupil. More details to follow.
Our first parent reps meeting of the year is next Friday, 12th October. As part of the meeting, we will be answering questions that classes have raised. Do remember, many queries are much better resolved by speaking to the class teacher, or the office and it would not be appropriate to discuss them at this meeting. This meeting is designed to explore more general suggestions for the school.
Returners’ Tea – Year 7s
Next Friday, the 12th October, at 4 p.m. at the juniors, we are having a returners tea for all the Year 7s who left Christ Church in the summer. If you know any of the Year 7s who left, do remind them and their families of the invitation. No need to RSVP!
Children should now bring in their outdoor PE kits – tracksuit top and bottoms, trainers and socks. Also, girls should bring in a spare pair of socks to keep at school for when they are wearing tights. PE kits should be in school every day.
Board Games for Juniors
We would be very thankful to have donations of used (but complete) board games that would be suitable for our Junior pupils to play either at break or lunch time. Donations can be made at both the Infant and Junior site; please place your games in the boxes provided in each foyer.
Connect – Timing of breakfast
Children are welcome to join us at Connect at any time from 7.30 a.m. onwards. However, please note that they need to arrive by 8.15 a.m., if they are going to eat breakfast. Otherwise, they should eat breakfast at home first.
Outdoor seating for the Field
We would like to create an outdoor seating area in our Junior field, comprising 3 planks of wood (long enough to sit 30 pupils) and 4 crates and or wooden boxes to support these planks. If you are able to help in any way with this project please contact either office who will put you in contact with the Outdoor Team.
Infants Playground Enhancements
We would like to ask for help please with the following Infant playground enhancement projects: repair of playground sandpit; installation of sun shading on the infant playground and infant field and repair of the gazebo roof and repainting of the gazebo. If you feel you are able to help in any way, and have not already expressed an interest to help, please could you contact either office, who will put you in touch with the Outdoor Team.
