September 10th 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you for gifts at the end of summer for non-class based staff. This has enabled us to purchase £10 vouchers for each member of staff, which is incredibly generous of you. Thank you, also, for purchasing pencil cases for your junior children with all the key items, as teachers report that the children are loving them and taking great care of their possessions.

It has been lovely to see the new Reception children start this week (and the first nursery children). I think they have done incredibly well, even coping with the changes that a power cut brought, but I also suspect they will be very tired this weekend! We have also had the fun that the Sciencedome brought to the Infants, and I was most impressed by the new knowledge that they gained.

Next week, our two pigs should be arriving on Wednesday 15th September. If you have not suggested any names yet, please do it by Monday (and also send in the £2 which will be invaluable for their food). We cannot use any fruit and vegetables which have been in a kitchen, but if anyone has left over produce from an allotment or garden, please do donate them. We will shortly be contacting the families who kindly offered to pop in to care for the pigs at weekends to arrange dates and to share more information.

Uniform

We believe that it is important for children to wear our smart school uniform. Over the next fortnight, we will be checking that every child does have the correct uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the uniform specified in your year group’s welcome booklet, paying particular attention to the shoes, which must be:

  • On non-PE Days: Supportive black shoes, or completely black trainers with black soles and logos.
  • On PE Days:  Completely black, supportive trainers with black soles and logos.

MHST Workshop: Separation anxiety

Following lockdown, a lot of children and young people are finding it hard to separate from parents and caregivers. The MHST will be running a live 90 minute workshop on separation anxiety for parents/carers. The aim of this workshop is to help you identify anxious behaviours, think about what maintains these and provide you with some ideas on what you can do to help your child or young person overcome these challenges. The MHST will be running one workshop over 6 dates (same workshop offered on each date). Please book your tickets for one workshop using the Eventbrite link sent out to parents/carers.
