We’ve come to the end of another productive week. It is fantastic to see the works on the infant playground underway – so exciting! This afternoon we had a lovely service in church where children in Year 5 welcomed the new Reception children. On Monday, Eagle Class enjoyed their trip to Hogsmill Sewage Works and Macaw Class are looking forward to their turn next week. Year 2 have been learning about Laika, the first dog in space and dazzling visitors with their factual knowledge. With next week’s bulletin will come the first of our monthly newsletters, packed full of photos of what we have done in September.
Junior PE – Big Change!
To maximise the time that children at the juniors have in their outside PE lessons children will change in to their PE kit at the end of their morning lessons and go home at the end of the day in their PE kit taking with them their PE bag with their school uniform and shoes in it.
This will mean that, starting next week, children in Years 3 and 4 will go home in their PE kits on Tuesdays and Years 5 and 6 on Thursdays.
Teachers will ask children to check they have put all their school uniform and shoes in their PE bag after they have changed. Obviously, if things are left behind in school or go home in somebody else’s bag it will be far more likely to be returned if it is clearly named.
Medications in School
If your child needs regular medication to be available during the day (inhalers, allergy medication), please ensure you complete a medical form, available from the school office, and that this is handed in to the school office together with the medication as soon as possible.
School Trips Reminder
If children are going out of school for the day on a school trip, please can we remind you that they need to bring a packed lunch with them and you should cancel their hot meal with ISS if you have already ordered one for that day.
SCL Holiday Club
Already the clock is ticking towards October so we have attached for your information a flyer for the SCL October Holiday Club at half term held at Christ Church. As usual parents have access to an exclusive 15% discount, which expires on 18th October.
Year 6 Secondary School transfer and SATs talk
On Monday evening we held a talk for parents to explain the Secondary School transfer process and to discuss SATs and how we can work together to ensure children achieve their best. We will be sending home paper copies of the presentations for those parents/carers who were unable to make it and they will also be available to download on the Years 5 & 6 class page of our website.
