This afternoon, Year 5 welcomed the new reception children at a special service at church. Seeing some of the youngest and oldest children in our school together is a reminder of how much children change and grow during primary school.
In the attached newsletter you can see photos of the year 2 footballer’s resounding success, when they won all four matches at the Year 2 Football Festival, as well as photos of art, maths and science.
Harvest Service Friday 29th September – Help Needed
Next Friday at 2:30 p.m., we will be celebrating harvest at our Harvest service. Children are welcome to bring non-perishable or tinned goods to take to church. If you are able to help walk classes to the church next Friday for the Harvest service, please let either office know. They will be leaving school from 1.30 p.m.
Whilst we want every child to have trainers for outdoor PE, we recognise that not all parents want to buy two pairs of trainers for their children. Many parents already only send in trainers on the days their child needs them, and that seems to work well. To help parents, here are the days that classes have outdoor PE this half term:
- Monday Year 1 & Year 5
- Tuesday Reception
- Wednesday Year 4
- Thursday Year 3
- Friday Year 2 & Year 6
Do remember to make sure all items of PE kit are named.
Before School Music & Sports Clubs
If your child is booked into a before school music or sports club, please make sure your children do not arrive earlier than five minutes before the club is due to start. Before then, there is not always someone to let them into the building or to supervise them.
Please check your child’s hair for headlice.
We always welcome parents who are keen to help in school. There are opportunities to support children with reading, writing and maths activities and games, and we would give training to any parents who would like it. Of course, if you have an expertise in any area of the curriculum we would always welcome what you can share with the children. There are also opportunities to help with administrative tasks, like printing and photocopying.
If you are interested in finding out more about helping at school, do contact Andrew Burkinshaw, on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Any parent who volunteers regularly needs to have a DBS certificate, which we can organise for you. If you have one through another role, you can use that to start with.
Infant Car Park
The Infant car park is for staff use only. We have had occasions recently where staff have not been able to get out or into the car park, because a parent’s car is blocking it.
Parent Reps Meeting – Friday 6th October
The first parent reps’ meeting of the year is on Friday 6th October. Parent reps will shortly be contacting their classes asking if you have any suggestions, comments or queries that you would like to make. Do remember that most issues can be addressed by speaking to the class teacher, so please do that, before raising an issue at parent reps.
Primary Secondary Transfer
Thank you to all the parents who attended the talk on Monday evening. For those who were not able to, a copy of my presentation is on the website and can be found here. If any parents need help with filling in the forms, please do ask Mrs Brown in the junior office, as she is very experienced in helping parents fill them in.
